Answer and Rational: [If you selected "E" and for it to be truly correct it must be for the real reason] "Phantom Settlement" is the correct reason. This represents the illusion of agreement because legally there is a settlement and the court can then consider the matter adjudicated or "disposed". While the parties never really, or even pretend outside the court to have agreed, because they believed that the "settlement" represented their true feelings and views but it was a way for them to extricate [to get out of/bring and end to] a never ending cycle of conflict, expense, time and emotionally draining experience not only for themselves but for their child[ren].
